The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has floated a tender for the construction of a Buddhist Meditation and Experience Centre in Bodh Gaya, with an estimated project cost of ₹131.30 crore. The tender was officially released on June 23, 2025, and sets a completion timeline of 24 months.

Tourism Infrastructure Gets a Major Boost

This move comes shortly after the Cabinet’s administrative approval on May 16, 2025, which sanctioned a total of ₹165.44 crore under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 of the Ministry of Tourism. The initiative is aimed at enhancing world-class tourist infrastructure at Bodh Gaya — one of India’s most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites.

Centre to Offer High-Quality Tourist Experience

The upcoming Buddhist Meditation and Experience Centre is expected to provide state-of-the-art spiritual facilities, designed to accommodate the rising number of domestic and international tourists. The project aims to offer an immersive and peaceful experience rooted in Buddhist teachings and meditation.
