Sunny Star Hotels Pvt. Ltd. Wins Contract to Operate Hotel Kautilya Vihar in Patna

The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (BSTDC) has awarded the contract for operating its landmark property, Hotel Kautilya Vihar in Patna, to Sunny Star Hotels Private Limited. The letter of award (LoA) has been issued for a quoted amount of ₹4.21cr.

The process was initiated on November 19, 2024, when BSTDC invited e-bids from experienced companies, including private and public limited firms, joint ventures, and proprietorships, to take over the hotel’s operations on a license basis. The tender was published across several reputed newspapers and the e-bidding was facilitated through BELTRON.

By the bid submission deadline of February 10, 2025, three firms had submitted their proposals:

  1. Bihar Hotels Ltd., South Gandhi Maidan, Patna
  2. Sujata Hotel Pvt. Ltd., Hotel Chanakya Complex, Patna
  3. Sunny Star Hotels Pvt. Ltd., New Ram Gulam Chowk, South Gandhi Maidan, Patna

The technical bids were opened on February 11, 2025, and a meeting of the tender committee was held on March 24, 2025, to evaluate the submissions. After thorough assessment, all three bidders were found technically qualified as per the eligibility criteria specified in the tender document.

Following the technical evaluation, the financial bids of all qualified bidders were opened. Upon review, Sunny Star Hotels Pvt. Ltd. emerged as the highest-ranked bidder and was consequently awarded the contract to operate Hotel Kautilya Vihar.
