To improve connectivity for the upcoming Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya, Bihar Integrated Manufacturing City Gaya Limited (BIMCGL) has issued a tender for building a four-lane road from NH-2 near Dobhi Mod to Bhabandev Jungle via Chanda village.
The ₹87.93 crore project, funded under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC), will serve as a critical trunk infrastructure component for the IMC Gaya. The bid documents state that the work must be completed within 24 months. Technical bids will be opened on August 7, 2025, after 11:00 AM.
Part of ₹1,339 crore IMC Gaya initiative
The four-lane road is one of the early works supporting the development of the ₹1,339 crore Integrated Manufacturing Cluster, which spans over 1,670 acres in Dobhi block, Gaya district. The project received environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on March 23, 2025.

The cluster is a part of the AKIC initiative and is strategically located near NH-19, NH-22, Gaya International Airport, and Gaya Junction. It will also benefit from multimodal linkages with inland waterways, the upcoming Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC), and other proposed logistics projects such as Patna’s ICD and Fatuha MMLP.
Administrative and cabinet approvals in place
The Bihar Cabinet granted approval for the 6.85-km road on May 16, 2025, while the Road Construction Department issued its administrative sanction on May 21, 2025, estimating the total cost at ₹142.80 crore. However, the current tender calls for execution of work worth ₹87.93 crore.
The planned road will feature a 14-metre-wide carriageway with specifications including 250 mm GSB, 150 mm DLC, and 280 mm PQC layers. The proposal also includes the construction of 18 RCC box culverts, 2 high-level RCC bridges, junction improvement works, and road furniture.
Infrastructure aimed at industrial acceleration
The IMC Gaya project is being implemented by BIMCGL, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) incorporated on January 6, 2025. The SPV is led by a Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director and is tasked with ensuring timely execution and promotion of the project.
Designed with modern plug-and-play infrastructure, the cluster will include facilities such as a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), solid waste management unit, power substation, and an administrative command centre. The project is expected to attract investments worth ₹16,524 crore and generate over 1.09 lakh jobs.

Sectoral focus and economic impact
The IMC aims to cater to sectors such as agro and food processing, textiles and garments, auto components, steel-based products, aerospace and defence, furniture, handlooms, and handicrafts. The final master plan, cost estimates, and design report have been prepared by Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), appointed by the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC).
Officials claim the project’s location near key transportation nodes and heritage sites like Bodh Gaya will position Gaya as an industrial and tourism destination. Gaya’s status as a UNESCO World Heritage site further boosts its appeal.
Gaya poised for multi-modal connectivity
The upcoming Delhi–Varanasi–Howrah high-speed rail corridor is proposed to pass through Gaya, promising to drastically reduce travel time. With technical institutions like IIM Bodh Gaya, engineering and medical colleges, and a skilled workforce pool, officials expect the IMC to become a magnet for both domestic and international manufacturers.
By strengthening core infrastructure such as the Dobhi–Bhabandev Jungle four-lane road, Bihar government officials believe the industrial ecosystem in southern Bihar is poised for a transformation.
