NTA Responds to Allegations of NEET UG 2024 Paper Leak

The National Testing Agency (NTA) administered the NEET UG 2024 exam in 557 cities nationwide and 14 cities overseas, utilizing numerous examination centers. Nonetheless, numerous social media posts allege that the question paper has been leaked.

At one center in Rajasthan, Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, Hindi medium students allege receiving English medium question papers. Although the NTA acknowledges the mistake in distributing the incorrect question papers, it denies any allegations of a paper leak.

The NTA, however, moved swiftly to reassure the public that besides this isolated occurrence, the NEET (UG) 2024 examination proceeded smoothly and without disruption at all other examination centers across the nation. The agency emphasized that the integrity of the examination process remains intact at these centers.

The NTA has initiated actions to address the situation. The examination for approximately 120 affected candidates from the Girls Higher Secondary Model School examination center is being conducted today, May 5, 2024.

In its statement, the NTA reiterated its unwavering commitment to conducting examinations with transparency, integrity, and fairness. The agency extended its best wishes to all NEET (UG) 2024 candidates and assured them of continued support throughout the examination process.

NEET UG 2024 was conducted on May 5, from 2 pm till 5:20 pm. The medical entrance exam was held in 557 cities across the country and 14 cities abroad in multiple exam centres.

This year, a record 23 lakh candidates registered for NEET UG, of which over 10 lakh were male students, over 13 lakh were girls and 24 students registered under the ‘third gender’ category. Region-wise, Uttar Pradesh had registered the highest number of candidates with 3,39,125 registrations, followed by Maharashtra with 279904. Rajasthan at 1,96,139. Southern states Tamil Nadu registered 155216 applicants while Karnataka registered 154210.

In 2023, a total of 20,87,449 candidates registered for NEET UG 2023 and the exam was held on May 7, out of which NTA recorded 97.7 per cent attendance and the re-exam was conducted for nearly 8,700 candidates.
