NHAI Cancels ₹1,050 Cr Areraj–Bettiah Four-Lane Road Project

The tender for constructing a four-lane highway between Areraj and Bettiah in Bihar has been cancelled by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The project, valued at ₹1,050.49 crore, was planned under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) and aimed to develop a 41 km stretch, starting from Areraj (near SH-54) and ending near Gurwalia Biswas village on NH-727 of NH-139W.

Originally published on 21st September 2024, the bid opening was scheduled for 10th July 2025. However, citing Clause 2.16 of the RFP, the competent authority has decided to cancel the bidding process.

According to data available on the Bhoomi Rashi portal, the project requires a total of 450 hectares of land. Out of this, only 7.5 hectares is currently available, and 442.5 hectares are yet to be acquired. So far, just 4.1167 hectares have been acquired.
