NCC Limited, one of India’s leading infrastructure companies, has announced that it has received a major order from the Water Resources Department of Bihar for the construction of the Barnar Reservoir Scheme in Jamui district.
In a regulatory filing with NSE and BSE, the company disclosed that the project involves the construction of the reservoir, dam structures, irrigation channels, and other associated works. The total contract value is approximately ₹2,090.5 crore (excluding GST).
The construction period for the project is 30 months, followed by a Defect Liability Period (DLP) of 60 months. The order has been awarded by a domestic entity and does not fall under any related-party transactions, the company confirmed.
This project is expected to significantly boost irrigation infrastructure in Jamui district, enhancing water availability for agriculture and supporting local development.
Earlier in June, WRD had floated the tender for the construction of the Barnar Reservoir with an estimated cost of ₹2,579.37 crore. The project includes building the largest concrete dam in Bihar, measuring 285 meters in length and 74.31 meters in height.
Upon completion, the scheme will provide irrigation facilities across 22,226 hectares of command area covering Somo, Jhajha, Khaira, and Gidhaur blocks of Jamui district, significantly boosting agricultural productivity in the region.
