Ahilya Mandir, one of Darbhanga’s most historic places of worship, is renowned for its intricate art and ancient Indian architecture. Believed to be dedicated to Gautam Rishi’s wife, the temple houses a sacred stone said to bear the footprints of Goddess Sita. A divine destination, the temple draws devotees from across the region.
The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (BSTDCL) held a technical evaluation committee meeting on June 16, 2025, for the upgradation and beautification of the Ahilya Sthan Temple in Darbhanga. The review marks a significant step in the state’s effort to enhance tourism infrastructure and preserve religious heritage.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Engineer of BSTDCL and attended by the Superintending Engineer, Deputy General Manager (Works and Accounts), Executive Engineer, and Assistant Engineer. The tender was floated for an estimated administrative and technical cost of ₹14.99 crore. The value of the bill of quantity stands at ₹13.79 crore, and the completion period for the project is set at 15 months.
The tender was issued on May 15, 2025, and attracted bids from three firms:
- M/s Kashyap Services, VN Plaza, Khagaul, Patna
- M/s Ajeet Kumar Construction Pvt. Ltd., Nehru Nagar, Patna
- M/s Marcon Infra Pvt. Ltd., Ranjan Complex, Bari Road, Patna
During the technical evaluation, documents submitted by all three bidders were reviewed. Based on the initial verification, the committee found the bids from M/s Kashyap Services and M/s Marcon Infra Pvt. Ltd. to be technically responsive. The bid from M/s Ajeet Kumar Construction Pvt. Ltd. was found to be non-responsive due to discrepancies in submitted documents.

The committee also decided that experience certificates submitted by all bidders will be subject to further verification. If any document is found to be forged or fabricated, action will be taken under the Bihar Contractor Registration Rules, 2007.
The comparative bid statement and evaluation report have been published on the eprocurement portal and BSTDCL’s website. Objections, if any, can be sent to cebstdo@gmail.com by 4:00 PM on June 20, 2025. In the absence of objections, the financial bids will be opened. If objections are received, they will be reviewed before any further action is taken.
The Ahilya Sthan redevelopment project is expected to contribute to cultural tourism in north Bihar by improving amenities at one of the region’s key religious sites.
