PNC Infratech has won the contract for construction of a high-level bridge on the Bagmati River along with an approach road on the Garha–Aurai Road in Muzaffarpur at a cost of ₹495.54 crore. The contract will be executed in EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode, with a completion timeline of 1,095 days, approximately three years.

The scope of work includes the construction of a 3.35-kilometre-long high-level bridge across the Bagmati River, in addition to approach roads, bypasses, culverts, and overall strengthening of the 21.30-kilometre road stretch connecting Garha (NH-57) to Aurai. The bridge will serve as a bund-to-bund elevated road, designed to improve connectivity across flood-prone areas of north Bihar.

The Bihar Cabinet had earlier approved this project on November 14, 2024, under the Bihar State Highway IV Project (BSHP-IV). The project received administrative sanction at an estimated cost of ₹814.22 crore.

Officials explained that the initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to upgrade all state highways to two-lane standards with paved shoulders, keeping in mind the increasing traffic density and the need for robust road infrastructure.

The new bridge and road project will start from Garha on NH-57 and end near Aurai, directly benefiting local commuters and enhancing regional connectivity. Once completed, the infrastructure is expected to improve not only passenger movement but also the transportation of agricultural and industrial goods in Muzaffarpur and adjoining districts.
