Gaawar Construction Limited has emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction of a 13.175 km elevated corridor in Darbhanga district, Bihar. The project involves the improvement and up-gradation of a two to four lane elevated corridor from Darbhanga Railway Station to the Amas–Darbhanga Expressway via Donar Chowk and Karpuri Chowk, as well as from Karpuri Chowk to Ekmi Chowk through Laheria Sarai Chowk and Lohiya Chowk.
The project is being undertaken by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) on an EPC mode with an estimated cost of Rs 1,214.90 crore. The bids were invited in May 2025, with the due date set for July 21 and the financial bids opened on August 27.
Gaawar Construction Limited quoted Rs 971.92 crore, which is 20 percent below the estimated cost, securing the L1 position. Ashoka Buildcon Limited stood second with a bid of Rs 1,076 crore, 11.43 percent below the estimate. Afcons Infrastructure Limited quoted Rs 1,297.80 crore, 6.82 percent above the estimate, while Navayuga Engineering Co. Ltd submitted a bid of Rs 1,323 crore, 8.90 percent above the estimate. Ceigall India Limited was declared non-responsive in the evaluation process.
Once awarded, this project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Darbhanga town by providing faster connectivity between key junctions and the Amas–Darbhanga Expressway. It is also anticipated to boost regional mobility and strengthen infrastructure in north Bihar.
