The Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) has initiated the process to develop a comprehensive State Road Network Development Plan, aligning with the broader Viksit Bharat\@2047 vision set by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day address of August 2021. Responding to the call for states to create their own development roadmaps, Bihar has emerged among the first to articulate its vision—Viksit Bihar\@2047.
Recognizing the vital role of road infrastructure in driving economic growth and social integration, the proposed roadmap aims to build a world-class road transport network in Bihar. This network will enhance last-mile connectivity, reduce travel time, and support the state’s industrial corridors and domestic markets.

To achieve this, BSRDCL plans to engage a strategy consulting agency to assist in developing the roadmap. The scope of work includes studying the socio-economic impact of road development, formulating a comprehensive State Road Policy, identifying and prioritizing key corridors, designing action plans with monitoring frameworks, and proposing sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
Key tasks involve assessment of existing road policies, study of national and international best practices, development of financing models including PPP and monetization strategies, and exploration of digital and green infrastructure. The plan will also define a future digital strategy for road safety and operations using advanced technologies such as IoT, AI, drones, and ATMS.
This initiative will involve coordination with multiple stakeholders including district collectors, planners, and various departments across the state and central government, aiming to create a strategic, mission-driven blueprint for Bihar’s road infrastructure under the Viksit Bihar\@2047 vision.
